Scenario: Secure the Network - While Leveraging the Web
You are visiting a customer site when the CISO pulls you aside to discuss a
problem he is trying to solve. He explains that he is very concerned about
employees accessing the web, risking malware infections and heavy bandwidth
use (He is currently using a web-filtering product from another vendor).
He tells you that he decided to block most access to the web, as his web-filtering
product can only block web sites, not web applications. When he did this, he
immediately got hundreds of requests for exceptions - most legitimate, some
not-so-legitimate.
He explains that after a few weeks, he decides to stop
blocking any web access, as his CEO wanted Skype
available during the day, so he could talk to his
daughter, who is studying abroad.
His question to you is: “Do you have a solution that
will allow me to secure my network, while also
allowing my users to continue leveraging the web as a
powerful tool?”
